Dawson's First Haircut
I can't believe I didn't take a before and after picture. But as many of you know, Dawson had a crazy long lock of hair that would curl around the cowlick on the back of his head. No matter how hard I tried to comb it forward it always managed to curl back around. Not to mention when we would throw Dawson up and down in the air it would float up and down with him. Of course I was hesitant to give my sweet boy a haircut when he's not even 8 months old but I knew he was in good hands with Aunt Lynn. We didn't cut much, just the "curl" (perfect for his baby book) and we took a little off the top just trying to tame some of the long stragglers. Luckily Dawson was distracted by cousin Aiden so he did great!
Look Daddy...
Dawson and I took Daddy to the library to show him how good Dawson is at picking out his own books. He sits on the floor and grabs the ones he wants to check out. Then we walk around and I hold one up at a time and he either doesn't pay attention at all or bats at the pages like crazy and that's the one we get!

BREAKING NEWS
Dawson said "Dada" for the first time on Friday! It couldn't have been more perfect timing. Chad and Dawson were playing on the bed when he said it. I'm sure it was our excitement that made him continue to say it over and over again. Yes, I will admit I'm jealous. I thought for sure he would say Mama first considering I spend just about every day all day with him, but no, Dad got it first.
I also forgot to share with all of you that Dawson is definitely crawling now. He started a little over 2 weeks ago (right after my post about his wannabe crawling). He is all over the place and into everything! No more relaxing for us...

Slacker!
Yep, that's me! Sorry to all of you who check our blog that I haven't posted in over a week. It's been fairly busy so I'll do my best to fill you in on what's been going on...
We'll start with last Thursday (my last post). Dawson and I went to Trisha McPhail's baby shower. Her and Todd welcomed Paige into their life on February 21st. She is such a sweet miracle...and so tiny. It was nice to see a room full of dresses and pink!
Beth knitted Lynn a huge cozy blanket.

After wearing each other out, Aiden & Maia watched a movie...well for about 10 minutes.
Meet Paige McPhail
On Saturday we all got together to celebrate Lynn's birthday, she turned 28 on March 20th.
Happy Birthday Lynn!
On Tuesday Andrea brought Jama and I to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). I LOVED it. It's a group of moms that get together every other week for 2 hours, there is always a speaker and then a craft project. I'll admit I was a little hesitant to leave Dawson since I've only left him in family's care so far but right away I felt comfortable. It's sweet grandmas that watch them and it seemed to be 1-3 kids per adult. The moms start off by eating breakfast, then this week the topic was discipline. It was all a little premature for me but really interesting. The presentation was based on a book called "Parenting with Love and Logic". I highly recommend it, I'm going to buy it and read it now so I'm prepared when Dawson get's to that point. Then for the craft project this week we did cute little Easter candy envelopes and candy carrots. I'm looking forward to the next one that the topic will be homeopathic remedies and the craft project is making "green" cleaning products!
Here is my bunny and carrot!
Right after MOPS I dropped Dawson off at Great Grandma's and went to get my hair done. It had been over 5 months since I got it colored! I was being indecisive as usual but knew I wanted to do something different. My two options that I thought of were getting a body perm or cutting it short. Since I wasn't sure what to expect from the perm I decided to chop it. I think we cut about 6-7 inches off! I'm having a bit of "haircutters remorse" but overall it's nice to have my hair look and feel so healthy for once.
On Thursday night Ryan and his girlfriend Megan invited us over to their place for a BBQ. Her mom, stepdad, sister, dad, stepmom and stepsister all flew in from Montana to celebrate her birthday the next day. Another big step for Ryan having the two families meet. :) It all went great! Her family is full of energy and a lot of fun.
This is the only picture I ended up getting all night but I thought it was a cute one of my dad, Dawson and I.
Friday night we were bringing back the 80's!! Megan celebrated her 30th birthday by throwing an 80's bash.

Do We Call That Crawling?
Dawson has been so close to crawling for over a month now, but recently he has actually started to move. It's not graceful but he's able to get from one side of the room to the other. Sometimes he's real quick and other times it takes some time (he takes a lot of rests during the process). Here are some pics from this morning.
He starts in a good crawling position and is able to take some knee steps but still can't quite coordinate moving the arms and legs together.
So he always ends up on his belly stretching to get a little further.
Dawson & Daddy
Chad was sitting with Dawson the other day and when I looked over I had a flashback of a previous pcture...

A Cold & Ear Infection?!
Poor baby! Dawson caught a cold a little over a week ago and he just now is about over it. He had a rough week of coughing and a runny, runny nose. To top it all off when I called the doctor to ask about his cold they had us come in for a visit...turns out he has a slight ear infection in one of his ears. He has to take antibiotics for 10 days, then go back to the doctor in 3 weeks to make sure it's better.
I know it's bad, but since Dawson's been sick he usually ends up in our bed at night. The doctor said it's hard for babies to sleep when they have an ear infection and I just don't have the heart to listen to him cry when he's so stuffed up. Soon he will be back in his crib all night but for now I'm going to enjoy being able to comfort and cuddle him.
Luckily Dawson doesn't mind taking his antibiotics at all-it tastes like bubble gum.
